This video was commissioned by USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering to showcase its SHINE program, a summer workshop that places high school students in research labs, mentored directly by PhD candidates and USC professors; it has a special focus on helping students from under-privileged environments become the first in their families to attain higher education. USC’s Viterbi school is well-known in the advancement world for recently completing an historic $500M capital campaign, which resulted in 58 new endowed scholarships and fellowships, 19 new endowed faculty positions, and 14,000 new donors. It was videos like this one that helped power those results.
